RIBBON Medical is building a non-invasive chest sensor that continuously monitors respiratory volume — providing clinicians with data that is currently unavailable outside of the ICU.
Respiratory deterioration often goes undetected between intermittent spot-checks. By the time standard vital signs change, patients may already be in significant decline.
A small wearable patch that continuously monitors tidal volume — the amount of air moved with each breath. Changes in tidal volume can precede clinical deterioration by hours to days.
COPD exacerbation monitoring, post-operative respiratory surveillance, and chronic respiratory disease management — in hospital, clinic, and home settings.
Currently preparing for our first clinical feasibility study at St. James's Hospital Dublin, with approximately 40 patients across ICU and general ward cohorts.
RIBBON Medical is a research project, pre-incorporation, based out of Trinity College Dublin Irleand.
The technology is patent-protected and funded through an Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund grant.
